本立道生

        學會的座右銘取材自論語學而篇的「本立而道生」。此言引伸之意是若要達致某一目標,必須循其根本;根本如能確立( 本立 ),便容易找出有效的方法 ( 道生 )。即譬如儒家認為實踐德行始於自覺;想學生養成良好的德行,須從培養學生的自覺能力做起。

  學會成立的目的,是要透過教學及相關研究,尋出學生學習成敗的根本因由,循此確立宏觀或微觀的教育目標,繼而因應不同的個人及社會因素探求更有效更「本立」的方法。我們更希望能在不斷尋本探道的歷程中,激發各種活潑的探究精神,至令無論在審視教學法、課程、教育模式、教師培訓或教育政策時都能循本而發,避免走錯路、走冤枉路,使教與學能相得益彰。

     教育界正興起一股追求質素教育的潮流。 希望我們能集思廣益,一同尋本探道,致力為現在和未來的孩子提供有質素的教育。

 
 
The Motto of SESHK originated from the wisdom of The Master. Confucius reckoned that a person's virtue started from one's ability to reflect in depth. It implied that in order to find out effective means to an end, it was of utmost importance that the right 'end' was identified.
To this end therefore, The Society hoped to identify the root of a situation through providing venues for professional interflows in different formats. In the process of stimulating active interflows and in-depth discussions, unnecessary errors could be avoided in approaches to the curriculum, design on teacher development, and formulation of educational policies.
