Abstract
|
| The special education field is relatively young, but has gone through many changes in its short life. One of the important areas of growth in special education has been the recognition and importance of the early years in a child's development, and its impact on the functioning of the child at later ages. Professionals agree that it is preferable to "catch" delayed development early and work towards it remediation with the child's family, at the earliest possible opportunity. There have been numerous changes in our approach to educating young children with special needs. Among these changes has been the increasing emphasis on giving children rich learning opportunities as young children to grow and develop to their full potential. Also, children with delayed development or those born with disabilities are at risk for future educational challenges and learning difficulties. So it makes sense to intervene early and try to facilitate the child's growth and development from an early age. This papers outlines a training program developed for teachers of preschool special needs children in the University of Louisville, USA. |
